This project was initiated following concerns raised during a planned refurbishment at the farm. Older floor tiles and their bitumen adhesives are known to frequently contain asbestos, especially in properties built before the 1980s. Meyer Southern was called in to carry out the necessary removal works safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption.
Our expert team began the process by sealing off the affected area to prevent the spread of airborne fibres. We then carefully lifted the asbestos-containing tiles using industry-approved low-disturbance techniques. Once the tiles were safely removed, attention was turned to the bitumen adhesive beneath—also containing traces of asbestos. This was scraped and lifted using specialist equipment and extraction systems, ensuring safe handling throughout.
All asbestos waste generated during the project was securely bagged, labelled, and transported to a licensed hazardous waste facility in accordance with current UK regulations. Upon completion of the removal, the work area underwent a detailed clean using H-class vacuum systems, and a final inspection ensured the area was free from contamination.
The project was completed on schedule and in full compliance with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, giving the client complete confidence in the safety and future usability of the space.
