Meyer Southern Ltd was recently instructed on a domestic asbestos removal job at a property on Old Turnpike in Fareham, Hampshire.
Working across five rooms, we safely stripped out asbestos-containing artex and lathe and plaster ceilings, with a total of 42m2 identified for treatment.

Safe Removal Process
Preparation of the property came first. Work areas were fully sealed, floors were protected, and polythene barriers were taped off at every access point to keep clean zones clean. Warning signage went up around each enclosure, along with clear access controls so nobody entered the working area by mistake.
Wet removal methods were used to take down the ceilings, which kept dust suppression high and airborne fibre levels down to a minimum. Once materials were removed, everything was double-bagged, labelled correctly, and booked into a licensed waste facility. Nothing left the property without a full paper trail behind it.
Compliance and Disposal
Transport and disposal of the asbestos waste was carried out strictly within UK legislation. Consignment notes and disposal certificates were handed to the homeowner on completion, giving them a full audit trail for the works.
After removal, the affected rooms were cleaned down from top to bottom. A final inspection was carried out to confirm the areas were safe for reoccupation, which allowed the client to start refurbishment work straight away.
