We were recently called to an emergency asbestos removal job in the Southampton suburb of Salisbury, where a homeowner had broken through asbestos materials as a result of not realising they were there.

The homeowner had been helping a builder with a garage refurbishment job, and together they ripped down the existing ceiling in the building – only then becoming aware that it contained large amounts of asbestos.

Mindful of the health hazards and the microscopic fibres that could be left on surfaces or even hanging in the air, they immediately stopped work and called Meyer Environmental in, to put things right again.

We safely and efficiently removed all materials they had already broken up before moving on to also remove what remained of the ACMs (asbestos containing materials) in the ceiling and other parts of the garage, before taking them away for proper disposal too.

We also arranged an independent survey by an accredited analytical company, to establish there were no remaining risks for airborne fibres or others that may have landed on surfaces in the shed. Once all ACMs were gone and the independent survey confirmed that, the homeowner and builder were able to start work again.

The job shows our efficiency and expertise in dealing with any problem that arises with asbestos material in your home, garage, business premises, farmyard, or anywhere else. If you need such help in Salisbury or anywhere else in Southampton, the rest of Hampshire, or in Surrey, West Sussex, Berkshire, Surrey, Dorset, Wiltshire, or Kent, we’re here to give it to you.
